Consignment Auction Preview

Held annually in September, The Annual Consignment Auction of early Provincetown art is one of PAAM’s most significant yearly fundraisers, supporting our year-round educational offerings, exhibitions, and other cultural programming.

Purchasing a piece of artwork from this auction makes an extraordinary difference in PAAM’s ability to maintain its operations. Consignors to the auction receive 80% of the “hammer price” for lots sold, and PAAM receives 20% or a minimum of $50. It is in the best interest of PAAM and the consignor to sell high, so every effort is made to ensure the best possible price at auction for every consignment. The auction is advertised digitally and in print through major antique and fine arts publications both locally and nationally, and all lots are displayed in the Museum several weeks prior to the Auction in a Preview Exhibition. The 2020 and 2021 consignment auctions were held online via one of the premier fine art and object auction sites,
