The Benefit Auction Preview

Held annually in September, PAAM’s Benefit Auction of Early Provincetown Art is one of our most significant yearly fundraisers, supporting our year-round educational offerings, exhibitions, and other cultural programming.

The auction features historic Provincetown artists and highlights some of the most significant names, scenes, and themes throughout the history of the Provincetown Art Colony. As well as showcasing the incredible breadth of early Provincetown art, PAAM’s annual Benefit Auction is an important fundraiser for the museum. We extend our greatest thanks to all those who continue to support and participate in our annual Benefit Auction by consigning and purchasing artwork.

The works on view in the preview exhibition are the 101 lots available in the 2023 auction. This year, The Benefit Auction will be hosted online via LiveAuctioneers.com.

BIDDING

All bidding will take place via LiveAuctioneers.com. Absentee bidding will open September 1, and lots will begin closing at 7pm on September 23.

1. Create an account with LiveAuctioneers.com. If you have a tax resale ID, you will submit it to Live Auctioneers.
2. Request bidder registration in the PAAM Benefit Auction. Once approved, you may begin leaving bids.
3. Bid! Absentee bidding, or pre-bidding, is open for three weeks, during which you can leave single bids on any given lot, or use the auto bidding feature to set your maximum price for a lot, and the site will automatically bid in the given increments for you up to your max during the live auction.
4. The live auction begins and lots will begin closing in numeric order at 7 pm on Saturday, September 23. Once no further bids are submitted on a lot, it will sell to the highest bidder. This will happen quickly, so be ready!

PAYMENT

All invoices and payments will be generated and processed via Live Auctioneers (this includes all applicable taxes based on your billing address). Invoices will be automatically sent to winning bidders to complete payment. If you have a tax resale ID, you will submit it to Live Auctioneers when you create an account.

SHIPPING AND PICKUP

Winners may pick up their lots during museum hours starting Sunday, September 24 (11 a.m.–5 p.m., closed Tuesdays). Shipping will be at the expense of the winning bidder and done by a third party shipping company in Provincetown.
