In-Depth Introduction to Drawing with Valerie Isaacs

This three-day workshop will introduce you to four basic drawing skills, and provide you with the time and guidance to hone those skills.

Contour drawing will sharpen your powers of observation and help you to understand volume and character. Seeing through a grid will relate 3-dimensional space to 2-dimensional paper. Observation of positive and negative shapes will help students to see proportions and relationships, and put them on paper. Thinking of boxes and planes will make light and shade easier. Materials included in cost of workshop.

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST

Valerie Isaacs, painting on Cape Cod since 2016, is represented by Hammock Gallery in Provincetown. She studied Architecture at Penn State, drawing and etching in Spain, and painting at the Fleisher Art Memorial (Philadelphia) and with Douglas Balentine (Charleston SC). She has been painting professionally and exhibiting since 1990.
