Paper Mache in Relief with Heather Blume

Wednesday and Friday, October 18 and 20, 10am-1pm

2 sessions | $150 for members $160 for non-members

This two-day workshop offers the opportunity to create wall sculpture using the medium of paper mache.

Class will begin with a brief demonstration on how to create cut cardboard armatures, and how to use paper mache paper strips to transform them into compelling works of art. There will then be plenty of time for participants to create their own relief works. As this is a very innovative art form, all levels are welcome. Most materials will be provided, please see list for suggested items.


ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST

A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and the daughter of artist Rachel Ellis Kaufman, Heather Blume spent her early years living in a diverse artistic region. Mid-life, she graduated from the University of North Florida with a BFA summa cum laude in Painting , then attended the Graduate School of Figurative Art of the New York Academy of Art graduating with an MFA cum laude in Sculpture. She completed her formal education in the Advanced Art Appraisal Certificate Program at the Rhode Island School of Design. Blume’s artworks are privately collected and included in the permanent collections of the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and the Cahoon Museum of American Art. Internationally, her sculptures are included in the permanent collections of the British Museum in London and the Royal Coin Cabinet of Sweden in Stockholm. She is a recipient of several art awards and grants some of which include the State of Florida, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, and the Vermont Studio Center. 

Heather Blume is dedicated to cultivating a life that fosters creative expression. She values making artwork about the interdependent nature of life on earth and sharing her processes and artworks with the community at large.
