SUMMARY:Aric Attas // Symbiotic: Spring Song – Tree Music in the Garden (Day 1)
DESCRIPTION:Experience the music of plants! \n\n\n\nThis is the fourth in a suite of sound art installations titled The Four Seasons – Tree Music in the Garden by sound artist Aric Attas. Emerging from the success of Summer Song\, installed in PAAM’s Sculpture Garden during the 2025 Secret Garden Tour in July 2025\, this evolving suite will explore the sounds of Summer\, Autumn\, Winter\, and Spring. Together\, these works celebrate the changing beauty of Provincetown\, creating a place for reflection and discovery throughout the year. \n\n\n\nSpring Song – Tree Music in the Garden turns the natural space of PAAM’s Sculpture Garden into an immersive experience as the dormant landscape awakens again. It’s a celebration of wonder\, perception\, and our deep-rooted connection to the constant change of the living world. \n\n\n\nUsing custom-designed electronic instruments and sensors\, Attas draws on the bioelectric energy patterns within the large American Elm tree that shades PAAM’s Sculpture Garden. Signals produced by the plants’ own living processes are transformed in real time into harmonic tones\, chimes\, and ambient layers. The result: an evolving sonic tapestry where trees sing in harmony with birdsong\, water\, wind\, and ambient human-made sounds \n\n\n\nVisitors are invited to come and go throughout the day\, sit beneath the canopy\, and let the sounds unfold. It’s a meditative experience—an opportunity to slow down\, listen deeply\, and connect with the natural world. \n\n\n\nArtist Talks with Aric Attas\n\n\n\nFriday\, April 10th at 1pm\, 3pm\, and 7pm \n\n\n\nSaturday\, April 11th at 1pm and 3pm \n\n\n\nIn the Sculpture Garden itself\, Attas will share the creative process and the natural phenomena that make Spring Song possible. His practice blends cutting-edge technology with poetic intuition to explore unseen and unheard dimensions of the world around us. Attas’ sound installations incorporate generative ambient music\, using data input from the natural world\, including living plants and collected field recordings from Cape Cod\, sub-tropical Central Florida\, and beyond. Tickets to individual films are available through the Box Office. \n\n\n\nThe Provincetown Film Art Series is presented annually by PAAM and PFS and curated and hosted by film scholar Howard Karren. Films in the series\, both recent and vintage\, are chosen around central themes\, but the focus is on films about artists and creativity\, and films that are themselves works of art. Screenings are introduced by Howard Karren with program notes and are followed by a discussion. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeason Pass\n\n\n\n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Your Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n If you're purchasing tickets for anyone else\, please list them here: Add RemoveYour Email(Required)\n \n Your PhoneTicketsSeries Pass (PAAM/PFS Member) Quantity\n \n \n Price:\n $165.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Series Pass (General Admission) Quantity\n \n \n Price:\n $195.00\n \n \n Quantity \n I'd like to join PAAM/renew my PAAM membership:Individual Membership ($60)Dual Membership ($100)Family Membership ($125)PAAM Circle Bronze ($1\,000)PAAM Circle Silver ($2\,500)PAAM Circle Gold ($5\,000)Total\n \n Credit Card(Required)Configuration Required: To use the Square field\, please configure your Square Settings.Billing address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S. Virgin IslandsVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingArmed Forces AmericasArmed Forces EuropeArmed Forces Pacific\n State\n \n \n ZIP Code\n \n \n CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Lecture and Book Signing with Tom Burr\, Breuer House Artist-in-Residence
DESCRIPTION:Tom Burr\, Deep Purple\, 2000/2019\, installation view\, Queer Abstraction\, Des Moines Art Center\, Iowa\, 2019.Photos courtesy of Des Moines Art Center. Photography by Rich Sanders.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTom Burr (b. 1963 in New Haven\, Connecticut) is an artist who lives and works in New York and Connecticut.\n\n\n\nHe attended the School of Visual Arts and the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York. Burr’s work revisits the formal vocabulary of minimalism and post-minimalism\, and explores themes of site specificity\, queer subjectivities\, and space. He has shown extensively throughout Europe and the Americas. Burr is a 2025 Guggenheim Fellow. \n\n\n\nBurr’s work has been collected by major museums internationally\, including the Whitney Museum of American Art\, New York\, NY; Migros Museum\, Zurich\, Switzerland; MOCA\, Los Angeles\, CA; MuMOK\, Vienna\, Austria; New York Public Library\, New York\, NY; Sammlung Grasslin\, Germany; Sammlung Verbund\, Vienna\, Austria; Ludwig Museum\, Koln\, Germany; Hammer Museum\, Los Angeles\, CA; FRAC\, Champagne Ardenne\, France; FRAC\, Nord-Pas de Calais\, France; Baltimore Museum of Art\, Baltimore\, MD; and Yale University Art Gallery. \n\n\n\nTorrington Project\, a major monograph dedicated to the artist’s 2021-24 landmark installation-studio-exhibition space of the same name\, was published by Primary Information in August 2025. \n\n\n\nIncluded with $15 Museum admission\, free for PAAM members. No advance tickets\, admission paid at the Front Desk upon arrival. \n\n\n\nTHE BREUER HOUSE\n\n\n\nFrom The New York Times: “Deep in the woods of Wellfleet\, on Cape Cod\, down winding and rutted dirt roads\, a summer home built in 1949 by the Modernist architect Marcel Breuer sits perched on stilts. Its cantilevered porch\, where friends and family would spend much of their time\, once had a clear view across three connected kettle ponds\, but saplings that dotted the hillside today tower above the house\, blockingsightlines. \n\n\n\nThe four-bedroom structure…is considered the most significant Modernist house on the Cape and was one of the first completed examples of Breuer’s “Long House” design\, a simple construction that could be assembled using local materials. It has been left unchanged for decades\, a time capsule of architectural history hidden in the wilderness…” \n\n\n\nRead more about the Breuer House and the Cape Cod Modern Trust here.
