Description

Ferol Sibley Warthen studied with Fukawa Gene Baske, William Merrit Chase, and also learned from Blanche Lazzell. Her initial interest in the one-block printmaking method was sparked by the painterly characteristics of this medium.

Born in 1890 in a small prairie farmhouse outside of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Warthen first came to Provincetown in 1949.
