Join us in this in-depth introductory workshop, where participants will experience the range of technique and outcomes this centuries-old medium has to offer.

The first portion of the workshop will focus on demonstration and skill expansion, while the second portion will allow ample time for assisted work in the well-equipped print studio at PAAM. Under the guidance of artist and printmaker H. Gene Thompson you will learn techniques for preparing and incising images into your plate, as well as best practices for working with inks to produce both clean and painterly prints.

The workshop will conclude with a small showcase and conversation about the body of work accomplished by each artist. Whether you’re a novice or an established artist, this class provides a space for exploration, skill development, and mastering the timeless art of drypoint intaglio printmaking. Join us for a week filled with creativity, discovery, and the sheer delight of creating engaging print work.
