1 session | Free for PAAM members

If you’re not a current member, you can sign up on the Workshop Registration form (link below).

During this online workshop participants will have an opportunity to explore different approaches to collage by responding to quick exercises designed to give them a variety of experiences in the basics of collage design and practice.

No previous experience is necessary.

Please bring:

  • Any paper ephemera that sparks your interest: perhaps magazines/old books/maps/candy wrappers/vintage photos/postage stamps/solid colors/funky patterns
  • Scissors and/or Xacto type knife
  • Cutting board or pieces of card board
  • Something to collage onto: such as Bristol paper/card stock/cereal boxes/old book covers/or small panels
  • Some kind of glue: glue sticks are the easiest to use but mod podge/white glue/sticky sheets, etc. are fine if you prefer them

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST

Sian Robertson is a self-taught artist who grew up in Wales, in the UK, and has lived on the Outer Cape for over 20 years. She primarily works with used maps and atlases – cutting, folding, tearing, pasting, and more, to create both 2D and 3D work. Robertson likes to say that a beautiful map makes her heart race and her hand reach for her X-acto knife. Since 2015 she has had solo shows almost annually in galleries in Provincetown, as well as being part of many juried and group shows in galleries and arts institutions in Provincetown, across Cape Cod, and in Boston. Robertson also works with other artists to help them create and maintain their own websites.
