Summer 2023: Teaching Artist for Youth Programs

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum is looking for 1-2 Lead Teaching Artists specializing in visual arts for our Summer Youth Education Programs.

Teaching Artists will work collaboratively with PAAM Education Staff to plan and facilitate age appropriate educational material for students ages 4-8 and ages 9-12.

PAAM’s Little Artists Program (ages 4-8) offers a creative, engaging space for early learners to dig into the sensory experience of art-making. A wide variety of media and projects are explored through process-oriented learning designed for experimentation and creative development. Little Artists is expected to run Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12pm for 6 weeks starting July 10th through August 16th. Hours and dates are subject to change.

PAAM’s Young Artist Program (ages 9-12) is designed to encompass both project and process based learning in its weekly art projects for young artists hoping to advance their skills and build interest in art-making within a fun and relaxed environment. Young Artists is expected to run Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12pm for 6 weeks starting July 10th through August 16th. Hours and dates are subject to change.

Who are we looking for?

  • Passionate artist and arts educator interested in bettering the lives of young people while fostering creativity, exploration, and process based artmaking.
  • Foundational and diverse knowledge of art methods and instruction for appropriate ages.
  • Flexibility and patience in a fast paced art studio environment
  • Ability to implement a developmentally appropriate art curriculum designed to promote the social, creative, and intellectual growth of children while supporting the needs of the individual and classroom environment.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated teaching experience
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
  • Strong organization skills, able to multitask, and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Ability to work with students of all ages and skill levels and create an accessible classroom environment.
  • Pass required background checks.
