Summer Youth Programs

PAAM Youth Education is pleased to offer summer programming for youth ages 4 – 12.

A series of short sessions will explore a wide variety of media, topics and projects including but not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and fiber arts.

All summer programs will be held at PAAM and will incorporate both indoor and outdoor spaces and may include walking field trips around Provincetown historic neighborhoods, beaches, and galleries.

The 2024 Programs

Little Artists Summer Program: Ages 4-8

Little Artists offers a creative, engaging space for early learners to dig into the sensory experience of art-making. A wide variety of media will be explored in processed-focused projects that incorporate summer fun.

Price: $65 per week, $300 for full program (5 weeks)

Timeline: July 8th – August 7th, Mondays & Wednesdays, 10am – 12pm

Young Artist 4-Day Workshops: Ages 9-12

Price: $130 per workshop, $365 for all three workshops

Timeline:  July 8th – August 14th, Mondays & Wednesdays, 1:30-3:30pm

Session One: Creative Worldbuilding with MiYoung Sohn, July 8th, 10th, 15th & 17th 

During this two week workshop, students will create their own new world and work collaboratively to design a fantastical world map of unexplored countries. Students will work in many mediums like drawing, sculpture, and collage to dream up their unique land’s people, creatures, food, dress, and culture. What world do you want to live in? Imagination is the only limit!

Session Two: Clay Rattles & Hollow Forms with Heidi Filmer Gallagher, July 22nd, 24th, 29th, & 31st

In the class students will learn hand building techniques and understand the process of creating hollow forms with clay. They will practice  a variety of approaches to creating texture including attachment and carving. To finish their pieces, students will paint these small sculptures with acrylic paint adding details and emphasis.

Session Three: Kinetic Creations: Crafting Mobiles from Found Objects with Talia Putnoi, August 5th, 7th, 12th, and 14th

In this four-part workshop, students will explore new ways of learning from the environment by utilizing found materials to create hanging sculptural forms. Students will have the opportunity to scavenge for their materials along the coastline of Provincetown, turning their treasures into mixed-media mobiles. At the end of the class, participants will leave with a finished mobile sculpture as well as a new way of seeing the creative possibilities that the world has to offer us!
